'Teach India' is a campaign conducted/organized by 'Times of India'. This programme has been introduced in all the major metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkotta, Chennai and very recently it has been started in Bangalore.

The main purpose of 'Teach India' campaign is to free the child labourers and provide the education to underpriviliged children.

So what is TOI's role in this? Times of India plays the role of bringing the NGO's and the volunteers ie YOU, together.

There are many NGOs across the city, state and country but they are facing the shortage of passionate teachers/volunteers and there are thousands of citizens who are eager to do social service, educate the children, impart their skills and knowledge but they don't know whom to contact, how to approach and from where to start. Here comes the TOI as an mediator.

The volunteers can register with TOI either by filling the form provided in the 'Times of India' or 'Economic Times' paper, or else they can register online by visiting the site 'http://www.teach.timesofindia.com'.

At the time of registration you need to provide essential details like

  • your name,
  • mobile number,
  • qualification,
  • your interesting subjects,
  • your availability,
  • the preferred timeslot and
  • the places which are convinient for you to go and teach.

Based on all these parameters, team of TOI will assign you with a NGO which is nearer to your selected place and will provide you the date for the 'Induction Programme' where you will get a chance to meet and interact with the NGO, where you will be giving your valuable service.

Here TOI expects only one thing from the volunteers. That is, 2 hours per week and the strong committment of 3 months. After 3 months, it is your wish and will to continue or not to continue based on your experience.

The brand ambassador of this campaign is none other than, one and only Mr. Perfectionist, Amir Khan. Who could have been the suitable person other than 'Taare Zameen Par's director Amir Khan?

Already thousands of people have registered across the country and 1500+ people have registered in Bangalore alone within a span of 2 weeks. If you too are looking for a chance to give the best to the society then why to wait? Just visit the site and register yourself.

Good Luck..

Soon I will share my experiences and my views about the induction programme I have attended. Till then take care
